My wife and I ate there at least one a week never had to pay any extra fees, so the ones who said they did must of been acting like asses, never had a bad momoent yeah sometimes the food wasnt up to par, expecially at lunch, dinner was always great . Loved the raw oysters and frog legs .owner was always there when we we were and even offered me and my wife king crab legs when they ran out of snow crab legs. At no extra charge. Looks people either love it or hate it. Well, my family loves it. And the kids enjoy feeding the koi in the nice decorative pond (w/ fish food, not food from the buffet P). It's a family-friendly place.

Contrary to the last review, there's no fee for table service. So, either the last reviewer is lying, or the staff tried to rip him/her off when the owner wasn't around. I usually go there for lunch, and sometimes, I don't see the owner there. He wears a baseball cap and is friendly.

Food excellent.I ate there saturday 8/2 totally enjoyed the food.Service was terrible plates left on our table we ended up bussing them ourselves. We had to get our own drinks. We were completely ignored by the wait staff, until it was time to leave. Then we were approached by the hostess who said table service was not included! And demanded a table fee! While the cashier jumped around like a monkey and cheered her on.Rudest people, I will never go back.

This is me and my significant others second trip over to Latham to try this place after reading, and re-reading the reviews online. I would like to inform anyone who cares that it would also be our last. The first trip was early afternoon, we assumed that because it was between lunch and dinner that the food was either non-existent or bordering on inedible (some was luke-warm, some was greasier than standard fare at McDonald's, while some just tasted like garbage. I'm looking at YOU lo-mein, General Tso's and little dumplings.) Our second trip was at 6 PM on a Saturday afternoon, so our previous excuse didn't hold water, and to add now that it was busy, we were openly ignored by most of the wait staff for the 40 minutes we sat picking over some of the more edible fare (some of the sushi isn't bad, neither is the very sparse and non-varying "Mongolian grill" using the term very lightly in this case.) To anyone with a means to travel another 5 minutes who absolutely must find a decent Chinese buffet, try the Capital Buffet on wolf, or better yet the Dragon Buffet in Colonie on Central Ave.
Comment on Joyce's Review of Kobe Buffet
As for last post I have not heard of such a requirement, but it is a great idea as it prevents unneeded waste. The Kobe buffet is a distance from where I reside in Berkshire County (Pittsfield) but it is worth the trip! The all you can eat sushi is my favorite, as well as oysters on the half shell (Afrodisiac) and the large variety of choices of cuisine! The service is 100% and your made to feel welcome. I am not a quality eater as much as quantity and the Kobe buffet will make it a joy either way. The owner is usually present and he is very pleasant. I am already missing the Kobe buffet as I write this review. So if you want quality food and service as well as the freedom to gorge this is the restaurant for you!

Just wanted to add to my review that I found this restaurant to be clean and bathroom was not dirty, maybe I wouldn't eat off its floor but who in their right mind would. I have never been asked to pay for Sushi, but do understand the hard work involved in preparing it. So a couple of dollars in the tip jar is left each time I visit. Being that I travel from Pittsfield Massachusetts to the Kobe buffet must once again make clear it is well worth the travel. Some ignorant comment left about typical Chinese buffet, especially when the food is prepared fresh and the selections are plentiful. There's always something to complain about in life, but if your not happy, just don't go back. I believe this buffet will be a joy to any patron. As for waste, I have seen people get 5 plates of food only to throw away 3. As one might imagine the price of fuel hurts any struggling business, add to that a patron who cares nothing about wasting food. As for service if your not happy, than why not ask for owner or manager, to voice your complaints or concerns. The Kobe buffet gets 3 stars from me for its all around excellence. Kobe Buffet is the best buffet I have never been to, they have the best Asian food!!! =) I love their Chinese food, especially the Sushi and seafood!!! They are just awesome!!! D You can eat well in the nice environment, also served nice by the owner and waiter/waitress. They are nice people, they chat and joking with you. I always feel like they are my 2nd family, so warm and friendly! I went to many different Chinese reataurant and buffet, but Kobe buffet is the best one around this area. I am a Chinese girl, and I have been the US for a little more than 4 years. I know what I am talking about, it's really worth the price if you want very good Asian food. I suggest my family, friends and classmates go there all the time, everybody loves it and keeps going there. I am sure you will be one of the loyal customers if you give it a try p

went to kobe buffet tonight and it had to be one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. # 1 Bathroom was filthy, floors were wet and dirty, no towels. Buffet itself was not fresh, lots of crab legs but everything else seemed to be cold and not fresh. The cheese crab mixture sat untouched and I watched another patron try to cut into to it and it was a mass of gook, he did not take any. The jello had such a touch skin on it you could not even cut it, disgusting. Service was rude and food not worth eating. I would not go back.

Comment on Nelsons's Review of Kobe Buffet
The experience was not pleasant. It was not the cleanest place I have ever been to. The food was bland and presentation was dull. The food at points did not look edible. I would not recommend going at any point in time, the best part was reading the place mats.

Just another asian run restaurant run as cheap as possible, my favorite part was sitting back and watching the fat, lard infected people run up to the buffet as if they weren't going to get enough to eat, only to have them almost slip on the greasy floor. The carpet isn't greasy but your foot does stick to it when you walk. Bathroom would have been nicer if they had soap and something to wipe your hands on. Food, easy to find better out of state but average for New York and Yankee buffets. Sushi chef demanded a $3.00 charge for a request of Salmon Roll, I told the fool He could it himself....Go to Kings Buffet, Crab much better, cheaper, nicer attitude of staff but floor also greasy.....Won't go back, Disgruntled Tourist....
Comment on Eddie's Review of Kobe Buffet
Kobe Buffet has gone out of control!!! If you don't finish your sushi they will charge you $.50 per piece, even if you just leave your rice!!!!! This use to be a decent place to eat sushi, the other food on the menu is not great. So at least you could come there for lunch and order any type of sushi that you wanted, you would tip the nice sushi chef and that was that. Now the owner is charging $3.00 for any sushi that you ask the sushi chef to make!!!! This restaurant is more expensive than other similar places in the area. The owner got really greedy! What really appalled me is when we were eating. I left some rice from the sushi that I was eating and the waitress was standing there and literally watching me eat, and then rudely came up to us and notified me that I would have to pay $.50 cents for every piece that I didn't finish. Have you ever heard of paying extra fee for food that you didn't finish on your plate? Just outrageous! I would not recommend going there!!!!!
